Ninja Nation Austin Is Now Octo Ninja

First things first: Ninja Nation Austin did not close.

We changed our name.

The North Lamar gym formerly known as Ninja Nation Austin and Ninja Nation ATX is now Octo Ninja — an independent, locally owned Austin ninja and obstacle gym.

Same local ownership. Same 15,000-square-foot gym. Same Austin location. A new direction that's completely our own.

Kids are still climbing warped walls, swinging across obstacles, racing their friends and somehow locating an extra supply of energy that was nowhere to be found when you asked them to put on their shoes.

The octopus is new.

The adventure isn't.

Did Ninja Nation Austin Close?

No.

Ninja Nation Austin did not close. The Austin gym transitioned to a new independent name: Octo Ninja.

We understand why that can be confusing. When a familiar business suddenly has a different name, Google listing, website and logo, it is reasonable to wonder whether it closed, moved or was replaced.

That isn't what happened here.

Octo Ninja remains at:

6500 N Lamar Blvd, Suite A
Austin, TX 78752

The gym remains under the same local ownership and continues serving the Austin community from the same North Lamar facility. If you searched for Ninja Nation Austin, Ninja Nation ATX or the ninja gym on North Lamar and ended up here:

You're in the right place.

Why Did Ninja Nation Austin Become Octo Ninja?

After operating this Austin gym under the Ninja Nation brand, we decided the next chapter should be independent.

That gives us more freedom to build the gym around the people who actually use it here in Austin.

We can rethink programs. Experiment with new events. Improve how athletes progress. Build traditions that belong to this gym. Change something when it isn't working. Keep something when it is.

And occasionally make questionable decisions involving an orange octopus.

We wanted a name that felt energetic, adaptable and a little unexpected. Octopuses are intelligent, creative problem-solvers. They adapt quickly. They explore. They are extraordinarily good at holding onto things. That last quality feels particularly appropriate inside a gym full of rings, ropes and bars.

Octo Ninja gives us room to build something distinctly ours while carrying forward the community that was already here.

What Stayed the Same?

A lot.

This isn't another company moving into the building and trying to figure out why there are children hanging from the ceiling.

The people behind the gym, the location and the reason we built it are still here.

01 SAME OWNERS

Still locally owned.

Atlas and Tatiana remain the local owners behind the Austin gym.

What About Open Gym and Memberships?

Open Gym is still one of the easiest ways to experience Octo Ninja.

Come in, choose your obstacles and move at your own pace.

No class required.

We're also making the pathway for families who want to come more often much clearer.

Octo Play is our unlimited Open Gym membership for families who want lots of independent obstacle time.

For athletes who want structured coaching, Octo Classes provide weekly instruction through Octo Move, Ninja 1, Ninja 2 and Ninja 3, with Unlimited Open Gym access included in the ongoing class membership so there is plenty of opportunity to practice and play between sessions.

That means families don't have to choose between playing and learning.

Some kids mostly want freedom to explore. Some want a coach and a progression. Plenty want both.

Are Birthday Parties Still Available?

Absolutely!

Octo Ninja still hosts active indoor birthday parties at our Austin gym.

Kids get time on the obstacle course, space to celebrate and a party experience designed to let the adults spend a little less time coordinating and a little more time actually enjoying the birthday.

Because hosting twenty highly excited children in your own living room is technically an option.

Just not one we particularly recommend.

Are Camps Continuing?

Heck yes.

Octo Ninja continues offering active indoor camps during summer and school holiday breaks.

Camp days mix ninja obstacles with coached activities, games, challenges, social time and enough variety that children aren't being told to climb the warped wall for six consecutive hours until morale improves.

Current camp options include summer, school-break and select single-day programs for kids ages 5–12.

Can Adults Still Use Octo Ninja?

Yes.

Adults can participate in Open Gym and training opportunities too. We even have adult exclusive open gym times for those days you don’t want a 9 year old reminding you of your own mortality.

You do not need to have competed on television.

You do not need to be capable of doing twelve pull-ups while calmly discussing your protein intake.

You simply need to be interested in a workout that involves more than staring at a treadmill display.

Is Octo Ninja Still Locally Owned?

Yes! Still locally owned and family run!

Octo Ninja is still owned and run by local Austin parents, Atlas Cage and Tatiana Jitkoff. We live here, we’re raising our son here, and we built this place for our community. The name has changed but the inspirations behind it has not.

Nothing brings us more joy than watching a child face a tough obstacle, keep trying, and finally succeed. Going independent lets us shape every part of Octo Ninja around the families who move, play, and grow with us every day.

What About Existing Accounts, Bookings or Legacy Credits?

Octo Ninja now uses iClassPro for family accounts, registrations and bookings.

If you have an existing reservation, previous account balance, punch pass, class credit or another transition-related account question, the easiest option is to contact us directly so our team can look at your specific account.

We'd rather give you the correct answer for your family than make a blanket promise in a blog post that may not apply to every legacy account.

What Does “Octo Ninja” Mean?

Its all about finding your flow. A ninja obstacle is a physical puzzle.

You look at it.

You decide how your body might move through it.

You try.

Sometimes you miss.

Then you change something and try again. That combination of movement, creativity and adaptation is a big part of what we love about the sport.

The Octo Ninja name reflects a few qualities we hope kids get to practice here:

  • Adaptability

  • Creativity

  • Persistence

  • Coordination

  • Problem-solving

  • Curiosity

  • The ability to hold onto several things at once

That last one also describes most parents trying to leave the gym carrying shoes, snacks, a water bottle and a child who has suddenly decided their legs no longer function.

What Should Families Expect Next?

More Octo. 🐙

We want to keep improving:

  • How kids progress through ninja skills

  • How adults get moving and feel young again

  • How coaches teach and communicate

  • How families understand what their kids are learning

  • How younger athletes get introduced to movement

  • Camps and special events

  • Open Gym experiences

  • Membership options

  • Community partnerships

  • Obstacles, challenges and games

  • The little details that make visiting the gym easier and more fun

Some changes will be obvious.

Others will happen quietly because a coach noticed something that could work better, a parent gave us a good idea or a kid invented something so fun that we adopt it. (the idea, not the kid)

The goal isn't to erase what came before. It's to carry forward the trust, relationships and experiences built in this Austin gym while giving ourselves more room to become something distinctly Octo Ninja.

And with that, we say…

Welcome to Octo Ninja

A new name can feel like a big change. But the heart of the gym is pretty easy to recognize.

It's still a place where kids climb.

Where beginners are welcome.

Where someone can miss an obstacle five times and still be thrilled to try it a sixth. Where kids who haven't found “their sport” may discover something that finally makes sense to them. And where parents occasionally discover that apparently their child did have another three hours of energy available.

This Austin gym was known as Ninja Nation Austin.

Now we're building its next chapter as Octo Ninja.

We hope you'll come see what we're creating.

WELCOME TO THE NEXT CHAPTER

Come see Octo Ninja.

New name. Same North Lamar gym. A whole lot of obstacles waiting for you.
