Join the Octo Crew
Work somewhere kids can't wait to come back to.
Octo Ninja is a locally owned Austin obstacle gym built around movement, play, challenge and community.
We're looking for dependable, curious people who notice others, bring good energy and want to get better at what they do.
You don't have to arrive knowing everything about ninja. You do have to care.
Pick the one that sounds more like you.
Our team is built around two core roles. Choose one below to see what the job actually looks like.
Ninja Coach
You create the experience on the floor.
Depending on the shift, that might mean teaching a class, helping kids explore during Open Gym, running camp games, hosting a birthday party or taking Octo Ninja out into the Austin community.
What You'll Do
- Coach youth ninja classes
- Support the obstacle floor and Open Gym
- Lead camps, games and activities
- Host birthdays and group events
- Work Mobile Ninja events
- Teach obstacle progressions and movement skills
- Reset equipment and help maintain the arena
- Communicate with families and teammates
You'll Probably Like This Job If...
- You enjoy working with kids
- You'd rather move than sit all day
- You can be fun without losing control of a group
- You take feedback well
- You notice what's happening around you
- You get excited when someone else succeeds
Front Desk & Guest Experience
You make the gym easy to walk into—and easy to come back to.
The front desk is home base for Octo Ninja. You're often the first person a new family meets, the person they ask when they're confused and the person who helps them figure out what comes next.
What You'll Do
- Welcome and check in families
- Answer calls, emails and customer questions
- Explain classes, camps, memberships and events
- Book memberships and program enrollments
- Follow up with leads and make sales calls
- Share flyers, schedules and program information
- Help with customer accounts and basic administration
- Maintain retail, snacks and front-of-house areas
You'll Probably Like This Job If...
- You naturally greet people when they walk in
- You like helping people make decisions
- You're organized without being robotic
- You're comfortable talking about products and prices
- You can follow up instead of waiting to be reminded
- You notice what needs to be done next
Make it easy for families to love being here.
Notice People
Kids, parents and teammates shouldn't have to work hard to get your attention.
Take Ownership
If something needs doing, solving or communicating, don't wait for someone else to notice first.
Keep Learning
Coaching, sales, hospitality and leadership are all skills that get better with practice.
Pitch In
Great experiences happen when the crew cares about the whole gym—not just one task.
This sounds suspiciously like you.
This probably isn't your job if...
You want to disappear into your phone between tasks.
Quieter moments still have useful things to do.
Working with kids mostly sounds annoying.
That's going to become a problem pretty quickly.
Feedback feels like a personal attack.
Everyone here should be getting better at something.
Helping outside “your job” is beneath you.
The experience belongs to the whole crew.
Working at Octo should make you better at more than ninja.
Communication
Talk with kids, parents, customers and teammates clearly and confidently.
Leadership
Learn to take ownership when other people are depending on you.
Customer Experience
Understand what makes someone feel welcomed, supported and excited to come back.
Problem Solving
Because something unexpected will happen. Probably today.
Hiring shouldn't feel like a black hole.

Meet the Crew
Some roles may include an in-person conversation or opportunity for us to see how you interact.
Start Learning
Joining the crew is the beginning of training, not the end of it.
Before you apply.
Do I need ninja experience to work at Octo Ninja? +
Not necessarily. Relevant movement or ninja experience can be valuable for coaching roles, but we also care heavily about how you communicate, learn, work with children and respond to coaching yourself.
Are Coach and Front Desk separate positions? +
Yes. Ninja Coaches primarily work directly with participants through classes, floor coaching, camps, birthdays, events and Mobile Ninja experiences.
Front Desk & Guest Experience focuses primarily on hospitality, administration, memberships, customer support, sales and front-of-house operations.
Is the Front Desk position a sales job? +
Sales is part of the role, but we think of it as helping families find the right Octo experience.
Front desk team members should understand our programs well enough to explain options, book memberships and enrollments, follow up with interested families and make outbound sales calls when appropriate.
What kind of schedule should I expect? +
Scheduling depends on the role and current business needs. Many gym shifts happen during afternoons, evenings and weekends, while camps, school-break programs and events can create additional daytime hours.
What happens if you're not hiring for my role right now? +
You're still welcome to tell us about yourself. Team needs change throughout the year with camps, programming, events and business growth.
Bring curiosity. Bring reliability. Bring energy.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything. Come ready to learn, contribute and help create something families love.
We'll teach you how we do Octo.
